February 23, 2010 (Picture Below)

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred sometime during the weekend of January 23rd and  24th, 2010 at Electronic Services, located in the 1600 blcck of Park Ave.  Items taken during the burglary included various power tools.  Some of the power tools have been recovered at this time but not all of them.  An unknown black male was seen with one of the power tools that was stolen.  The pictures that were pulled from video surveillance shows the unknown black male suspect that Detectives are trying to identify.  The suspect is described as a  black male with visible facial hair.  He was wearing a blue t-shirt with unknown graphics,  a dark colored knit hat, and a white zippered sweatshirt with a black pattern.

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating the larceny of a snow plow attachment for a skid steer.  The theft occurred during the afternoon of Monday, February 8, 2010 between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot of 2840 Linkhorne  Drive.  The victim in this case reported that the snow plow attachment was placed behind the Dollar General and Curves area of the businesses at the Kroger shopping center.   The victim described the snow plow as a HORST Welding 84” 2000 series plow that is yellow in color, and weighs close to 600 lbs.  The plow is valued at $3000.  

February 9, 2010

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating a larceny in the area of the 3100 block of Odd Fellows Rd. Lynchburg, VA. This activity occurred on February 9, 2010 at approximately 0300 hrs.

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating a larceny from a vehicle and a credit card fraud that occurred during the night of December 10, 2009 in the 300 block of College Park Drive.  The victim in this case reported hearing a car door open outside of their residence during the night.   A short time later, the victim found that her purse, containing credit cards, was taken from one of their vehicles.  Upon contacting the credit card companies, the victim was advised that one of the cards had been used at Sheetz, 3927 Wards Rd. and at the Madison Heights Wal-Mart.

The suspects, as seen on video surveillance footage are described as:  

  1. Suspect #1: black male, wearing a dark colored jacket and jeans.  He was seen pushing a shopping cart and pulling a shopping cart full of merchandise.
  2. Suspect #2: black female wearing orange shirt w/dark colored sleeves, a cap, and multi-colored pants.  She was pushing a shopping cart full of merchandise.

The suspects purchased over $500 worth of merchandise with the victim’s credit card at Wal-Mart.  

January 19, 2010

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating a shots fired call that occurred on January 1, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. near the dead end of New Towne Rd.  The victim in this case reported hearing shots fired.   A short time later, minor damage was found to the exterior of the residence. 

Responding officers located 3 white males walking in a wooded area behind the residence.  All three suspects were armed with what appeared to be shotguns and were suspected of hunting.  Upon observing officers, the suspects fled on foot towards the area of Sandusky Drive.  Officers recovered 2 shotguns to include a Charles Daly 12 gauge shotgun and a Remington 12 gauge.

One of the suspects appeared to be in his late 50’s and was wearing a tan jacket.  The other two suspects appeared to be in their late 20’s.  

January 12, 2010

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating a credit card theft and credit card fraud case that occurred at several locations throughout Lynchburg.  The victim in this case noticed that her wallet had been stolen on October 30, 2009 at approximately 5:30 p.m.  Because the victim had been shopping at multiple locations on that particular day, it is unknown exactly at what point the victim’s wallet was taken. 

The victim contacted her credit card companies and notified them of the theft.  She was notified that two of the cards had already been used at Macy’s, 3405 Candlers Mountain Rd., the Wards Rd. Target, and at Best Buy (Wards Crossing Shopping Center).  

The suspects as seen on video surveillance are described as the following: 

Suspect #1:  male, unknown race, medium complexion, dark hair, glasses, wearing a white collared shirt, and a dark blue/light blue sweater, and dark colored pants. 

Suspect #2: female, unknown race, medium complexion, long dark hair, wearing a collared shirt, sweater vest, and light gray pants. 

The suspects used the credit cards to purchase Best Buy gift cards, a Nikon SLR D50 camera, and various clothes.  The loss is valued at approximately $2600. 

December 15, 2009

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating a larceny and property damage case that occurred on December 5, 2009 at the Super Dollar located at 7701 Timberlake Road.   

On December 5, 2009 two male subjects approach the Pepsi vending machine at this location and pried the machine open.  Once inside U.S. Currency was taken from the machine.  Several hundred dollars in damage occurred to the machine.  The incident was captured on video.  Anyone with information about this case is requested to contact Det. December 8, 2009

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating a larceny that occurred at the Lynchburg Target located at 4028 Wards Rd.  On August 11, 2009 at approximately 4:47 p.m. a black male and a white female entered the store pushing a baby stroller.  The male suspect was seen by loss prevention personnel concealing DVD’s and Blue Ray disks in a diaper bag.  The couple checked out at a register and the female suspect paid for other items that had not been concealed.  Once confronted by a store employee, the male suspect pushed the employee and ran from the store on foot.  The female suspect also left.  The value of the Blue Ray disks and DVD’s were valued at $647.00 

The male suspect is described as being a black male approximately 5’9” tall, weighing 150 lbs. and was wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and a baseball styled hat.

The female suspect is described is described as being a white female approximately 5’6” tall, weighing 230 lbs., wearing a short sleeved shirt, and was pushing a baby stroller.

November 23, 2009

The Lynchburg Police Department is currently investigating a series of property damage incidents that have occurred at the Heritage at Wyndhurst Clubhouse and at two other residences in the area.  Between October 10, 2009 and November 15, 2009 at least three incidences of property damage have been reported at the following locations: 

  1. The Heritage at Wyndhurst Clubhouse (200 Paulette Circle)
  2. Two residences located in the 300 block of Paulette Circle)

The damage caused at these locations included destroying furniture and cutting down ornamental trees.  The loss is estimated at over $500.

November 21, 2009

Attached are photos of two suspects involved in a larceny of a 15 inch LCD television from CVS in forest on 11.21.2009. If anyone can identify these suspects could you forward their information to me.  Deputy C.W. Brown, Bedford County Sheriff's Office.


 

November 17, 2009

The Lynchburg Police Department is currently investigating a grand larceny that occurred at the Game Stop, 3911 Wards Rd.  The business reported that on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at approximately 2:30 p.m., two unknown suspect(s) entered the store.  One of the suspects, as seen in the surveillance photos, stole a box the newly released "Call of Duty - Modern Warfare" . The games were for various gaming systems.  The estimated loss is approximately $3000.             

The Fire Marshall’s Office of the Lynchburg Fire and EMS Department is investigating a fire that occurred on Saturday November 7, 2009 at approximately 3:00 p.m.  A passerby called to report the playground at R.S. Payne Elementary School was on fire.  The Lynchburg Fire Marshal's Office is requesting any information regarding this incident. 

November 10, 2009

The Lynchburg Police Department is currently investigating a grand larceny that occurred at Shakers Restaurant, 3401 Candlers Mountain Rd.  The victim reported that on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at approximately 9:40 p.m., an unknown suspect(s) stole her Fendi brand purse and its contents off of the back of her chair. The purse is described leopard print purse and is similar to the one shown in the attached photo.

October 27, 2009

The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and the Lynchburg Police Department are currently investigating a series of break-ins that occurred over the past week.  Entry to each of the businesses was gained by tampering with and removing a pane of glass or window. 

On 10/22/2009 at 4:25 am the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office responded to 120 Simon’s Run, LaCaretta Mexican Restaurant regarding a burglary. The suspects made entry by tampering with the glass on the door of the business, where they proceeded to enter the building and take an undisclosed amount of cash. 

During the night on October 20, 2009 between 11:30 p.m. and 8:45 a.m. an unknown suspect or suspects broke into the Smiley and Drowsy Poet located at 3700 Candlers Mtn. Rd.  Once inside, the suspect(s) forced open the cash register and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

 October 20, 2009

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigation several reports of indecent exposure occurring in the areas of Rivermont Ave, Boonsboro Road, Langhorne Road, and Lakeside Drive.  Between October 8th and October 19th this agency has received at least 4 reports of indecent exposure primarily occurring in the early morning hours during which female victims are being confronted by the suspect and the suspect will be exposing himself.  In some instances the suspect has made some verbal comments to the victims however the suspect has never touched or attempted to touch any of the victims.   

The suspect is described as follows: 

W/M, 25 – 40 years of age, dark to reddish colored hair, prescription glasses, 5’ 8” – 6’ tall, possible tattoos on his right arm above the elbow.

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating the larceny of an early 1990’s model Kawasaki KX125 dirt bike.  The motorcycle was stolen from a residence located at 1509 Edley Place in Lynchburg, VA.  The theft occurred on Friday, October 2, 2009 sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  The motorcycle is described as being green and white in color with a black seat.  The attached photo is a picture of a motorcycle that is similar to the one stolen.

September 29, 2009

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating a purse snatching that occurred on September 25, 2009 at the CVS store located at 2259 Langhorne Rd. Lynchburg, VA.  At 7:53 p.m. the 83 year old female victim was leaving the store and walking towards her vehicle when she noticed a young black male run by her.  The victim stated that as the young male ran by, he grabbed her purse, forcing it off of her arm.  The victim sustained minor injuries. 

The only information regarding the suspect’s description available at this time is that the suspect is a young black male approximately 17 years old.  

September 22, 2009

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating a grand larceny that occurred between September the 11th  and September the 14th, 2009 at Young’s Moving and Storage Warehouse located at 4000 Mayflower Dr., Lynchburg, VA.  On September 14, 2009 an employee discovered that 2 Polaris 4-wheelers (ATVs) were missing from a storage area at the business.  It is unknown how entry was gained to the business.   The loss of the 4 wheelers was estimated at $14,000. 

The 4 wheelers are described as a Polaris Sportsman model, unknown color and the other model is described as a Polaris Outlaw and was gray and red in color.

September 15, 2009

On September 11, 2009 members of the Lynchburg Police Department responded to the 100 block of Roberts Avenue, in reference to two burglaries and grand larcenies.  Sometime during the daylight hours, of September 11, 2009, someone broke into two homes and stole some electronic equipment, an Xbox, Xbox games, and Xbox controllers.
