January 31, 2012

On Thursday January 19. 2012 at approximately 8:39 am, members of the Lynchburg Police Department responded to 528 Beulah Baptist Church, Lynchburg , VA in reference to a burglary.  Upon arriving on scene, police officers made contact with the Associate Pastor for Youth Ministries.  When the Pastor arrived at the church he found a door to the building had been forced open.  Upon further investigation it was discovered that property was missing from the church valued at over $200.  The unknown suspect(s) entered the building during the nighttime and removed the property without permission.  The suspects were not on scene and their identities are unknown at this time.  

This incident is currently under investigation by the Lynchburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.

January 10, 2012

The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office is currently attempting to locate Thomas Leonard Worley D.O.B. 10/2/74 .  Worley carries a Lynchburg VA address and is wanted in Campbell County, Amherst County, and Lynchburg .  He is wanted for grand larceny and multiple fail to appear charges.

December 27, 2011

On November 2, 2011, November 28, 2011 and December 6, 2011 there were a total of six daytime Burglaries that occurred in the Concord area of Campbell County. There were two witnesses that described a dark blue or black Volvo station wagon bearing a possible partial tag of 2017 in the area of the burglaries. The driver was described as a stocky white male with short, brown hair.  If you have any information regarding theses burglaries or have seen this vehicle, please contact the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

December 13, 2011

The Lynchburg Police Department is currently investigating a possible malicious wounding that occurred in the parking lot of the Advance Auto store, 5504 Fort Ave. Lynchburg .  On November 28, 2011 at approximately 2:45 a.m. , a report was received by police indicating that a male and female, no further description, were arguing loudly in the parking lot.  The unknown male and female were arguing near a dark colored vehicle.  At approximately the same time that the report was made to police, a shots fired call was received that was reported to be in the area of the CVS parking lot.  It is unknown if the two calls are related at this time.   

A gray jacket was recovered in the parking lot of the Advanced Auto store.  There was visible blood on the sleeves, hood, and front portions of the jacket.

November 15, 2011

The Lynchburg Police Department is currently investigating a number of larcenies that occurred at Laslie’s Auto Body, 3821 Old Forest Rd. Lynchburg .  On October 25, 2011 unknown suspect(s) broke into several vehicles that were parked on the lot of the business.  The suspects stole several car batteries from the vehicles which were subsequently sold to one of the local scrap metal facilities.  Detectives with the Lynchburg Police Department are attempting to identify the person who was captured on the surveillance recording seen scrapping the stolen car batteries. 

October 25, 2011

The Lynchburg Police Department is currently investigating a shoplifting/larceny that occurred on September 27, 2011 at Belk, located at 3405 Candlers Mountain Rd. Lynchburg , VA.  Belk employees reported that at approximately 8:50 p.m. two unknown black male suspects entered the business and fraudulently exchanged two pair of Sperry shoes.   

One of the suspects was wearing a white t-shirt with black jeans and the other suspect was wearing a black t-shirt with black jeans.  Belk reported a loss of $185.  The suspect wearing the black t-shirt fled from the store on foot after being confronted by store employees.  The other suspect fled and was observed leaving the mall property on a dark blue/black moped.

 October 18, 2011

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office is investigating a larceny from the Wal-Mart in Madison Heights . On Wednesday October 5th, shortly after 830pm, two black males entered Wal-Mart on South Amherst Highway in Madison Heights .  As they came through the checkout line, they paid with a $100 bill.  As the clerk was making change, they began to make change with him, and got the clerk confused and were able to leave with several hundred dollars in a quick change scheme.  The suspects are then seen on video leaving in a red or burgundy Chevy SUV.

October 11, 2011

The Lynchburg Police Department is currently investigating a burglary that occurred on October 4, 2011 at the Beverly Street Scale Auto Hobbies and Coin located at #3 Wadsworth St. Lynchburg, VA.  Business employees reported that at approximately 3:00 a.m. three unknown suspects entered the business and took numerous baseball and football card sets. The suspects gained entry into the business by throwing a brick through the glass front door of the business.  Two of the suspect’s faces can be seen on the attached video surveillance footage. 

October 4, 2011

The Lynchburg Police Department is currently investigating a shoplifting and assault incident that occurred on September 13, 2009 at Target, located at 4028 Wards Rd. Lynchburg, VA. Target store employees reported that two black female suspects entered the store and stole 22 assorted DVD’s. The DVD’s were concealed in two separate bags that the suspects brought with them into the store. The suspects by-passed the checkout line and exited the store. The suspects had a brief physical altercation with security and left the store. Some of the DVD’s were recovered during the incident. The suspects were described as 2 black females. One of the suspects had short hair and was wearing a pink short sleeve shirt. The other suspect had long hair and was wearing a blue shirt.
