Armed
Robbery:
The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office is
investigating an armed robbery that occurred the afternoon of November 1, 2007
shortly after 4 pm.
At approximately 4:12 pm, two white males
entered Red & Dot’s Store on River Road in Amherst County and robbed the
clerk. One of the suspects displayed
a handgun and demanded cash. The
suspects were described as white males in their mid twenties.
One was described as being 5’6” tall with a medium build and was
wearing a navy blue sweatshirt. He
had sandy blonde hair, blue eyes, and a “stubby” beard.
The second male was described a being 6’ tall and “lanky”.
He was wearing a blue stocking cap and a long grey t-shirt.
The suspects were seen leaving the scene in a
small red car.
Burglary:
The
Amherst
County
Sheriff’s
Office is currently investigating a burglary that occurred at the Smoke Stack
Store located at
4623
South Amherst Highway
,
Madison
Heights
,
VA.
On
August
31, 2007
at
approximately
12:30
a.m.
an
unknown suspect gained entry to the closed business by breaking out the front
door glass. Upon entry, the suspect
stole
Newport
cigarettes.
Surveillance video regarding
the offense shows what appears to be a male subject wearing a light colored
hoodie style sweatshirt with a dark colored stripe across the front.
Homicide:
The
Amherst
County
Sheriff’s Office in investigating a homicide that occurred on or about
Tuesday May 8th.
On Wednesday May
9th, a hunter found the body of Michael Kent Jamerson, a 54 year old
male of
Woodvue Drive
Madison Heights
. Mr. Jamerson was found off of Rt.
130 (
Elon Road
) in the Snowden area of the George Washington /
Jefferson
National Forest. Mr. Jamerson had
been shot several times.
